CryptoStor Tape is deployed inline between the server and the tape library; it compresses, encrypts, and digitally authenticates tape data as it is sent from the server to the tape library. CryptoStor Tape secures the encryption keys and ensures the key is available when the tape is restored. Encryption keys are archived to an archive server for secure offsite recovery. Security administrators can configure policies to selectively encrypt tapes from standard backup applications.
Fibre Channel SAN Tape Security
CryptoStor Tape is deployed on a Fibre Channel SAN which contains the servers and tape libraries. The tape drives are mapped to the CryptoStor Tape appliance which is mapped to the backup servers. CryptoStor Tape compresses, encrypts, and digitally authenticates tape data as it is sent from the servers to the tape libraries. CryptoStor Tape clustering supports sharing of policies and keys among appliances to support high availability configurations. CryptoStor secures the encryption keys and ensures the key is available when the tape is restored. Encryption keys are archived to an archive server for secure offsite recovery. Security administrators can configure policies to selectively encrypt tapes from standard backup applications.
Offsite Tape Backup Security
CryptoStor Tape is deployed on a Fibre Channel SAN which contains the servers and tape libraries. The tape drives are mapped across an extended SAN connection (e.g., IP or fiber connected to remote site) to the CryptoStor Tape appliance which is mapped to the backup servers. CryptoStor Tape compresses, encrypts, and digitally authenticates tape data as it is sent from the servers to the tape libraries. Encryption keys are archived to an archive server for secure offsite recovery. Security administrators can configure policies to selectively encrypt tapes from standard backup applications.
